Postkantoor Rotterdam

Client: ODA Architectures, New York

The former Postkantoor Rotterdam remained largely intact during the bombing of May 14, 1940, while much of the surrounding city center was destroyed. Together with the City Hall, it remains one of the most prominent survivors of that devastation.

ODA’s redevelopment aims to preserve and restore the historic building while integrating it into a contemporary mixed-use setting. The goal is not to treat it as a static monument, but to return it to the city as an active and inhabited place.

We created visualizations for the proposed hotel lobby and the historic staircase. To support a more faithful reconstruction of the space, we traveled to Rotterdam and carried out an on-site scan of the staircase, helping us capture original forms, materials, and colors with greater accuracy in the final imagery.
